Bangladesh, India to protect tigers from poachers, mob beatings
Bangladesh and India signed two deals to tackle poaching of critically-endangered Bengal tigers from the world’s largest mangrove forest, an official said Wednesday.
Local experts say only 200 of the big cats now live in the Sunderbans, down from 440 in 2004 — thanks largely to poaching by international animal smugglers and mob beatings by villagers who are hostile to tigers. (Photo: Mufty Munir/Files/AFP/Getty Images)
